Giulia Giu – Photo exhibit

Today, single-use plastics constitute more than 60% of marine pollution. “My Ocean Plastic dream” is a series of photos in which marine creatures and plastic objects (generally intended for children) are mixed in a deliberately pop and kitsch aesthetic, inspired by the world of advertising. With bright colors and branding, advertising pushes us to consume more and more, to buy objects that are as polluting as they are useless. This series is therefore a mise en abîme of the absurd: while the mass of objects built by human beings now exceeds that of all living beings, between 19 million and 23 million tons of plastic arrive each year in the waters of the planet, much of which ends up in the sea. Yet we continue to educate our children with plastic toys. The mass of plastic is double that of all animals, when will it be double that of our children?

Giulia Giu is a photographer and visual artist who likes to document and question in a whimsical universe the absurd social themes of our modern societies.

Julie Joly – Wandering Plankton

A visual artist since 2015, Julie Joly‘s project is to create works at the border of drawing and sculpture. Using wire, sewing thread and ironwork, her creations play with depth and perspective to inhabit space. Gigantic, medium or tiny, her works are inspired by the human and animal body. She tries to externalise the interior, the links and the particularities.

WANDERING – PLANKTON

From the Greek “plankton” which means “to wander”, plankton is the group of aquatic plants and animals that drift with the currents. Microscopic or small in size, they include thousands of species which together account for most of the biomass of marine organisms. Plankton is distinguished by its special property of absorbing CO2 and releasing oxygen. This phenomenon places it at the forefront of current affairs with regard to its possible role in reducing the greenhouse effect.

Julie Joly’s installation Errance, dedicated to plankton, aims to give visibility to these animals and their positive impact. The artist takes the opportunity to reveal some of their variety. The works play with their size and reveal their astonishing shapes, inviting the viewer to savour their poetry.

Aurore ReSisters

Aurore Chapon is a french illustrator, graphic designer, author, artist. She mainly works for cultural and associative structures, for whom she creates illustrations, visual identities, posters et various documents.

Her personal artistic work is focused on drawing, graphic art (micro-publishing) et craft activities like needlework (weaving, tapestry, embroidery). These practices are based on the fascination she feels for Wildlife and the passion she has for story-telling, narrative processes, and language. Her approach of these topics is basically political and poetic : converging struggles and eco-queer-feminism are the heart of my processes and reflexions. In this context, she co-signed ReSisters, a graphic novel about ecofeminists movements, published in october 2021 by Tana editions, and produced in collaboration with Jeanne Burgart Goutal, a philosopher and teacher specialized in this theme.
